iPad and D&D

Ever since the iPad came out, I was curious as to how well it works for D&D. Not just playing it, but also running it as a DM. Since getting my iPad a month ago, I’ve played a couple games using iAnnotate as the PDF character sheet viewer. All in all, iAnnotate works well, letting me bookmark, highlight and markup my character sheet to track hit points, status effects, and power usage.

In preparation for running a game - my two-part Revenge of the Zhentarim adventure - I have looked into other apps which may prove useful. GoodReader seems to be the best choice for managing a library of digital sourcebooks. I also stumbled upon iCardSort which is a thought organization utility with little post-it notes that can be re-arranged and edited as necessary. This seems to be an excellent make-shift initiative tracker. And iCardSort is free!

So, until Wizards releases an iCompatible app for D&D, I’ll make do with what’s available, which appears to be quite handy, indeed.
